Leading technology research firm evaluates CompuCom on completeness of vision and ability to execute
DALLAS — December 3, 2010 — CompuCom Systems Inc., the leading IT outsourcing specialist, has been positioned by Gartner Inc. in the challengers quadrant of the 2010 Magic Quadrant for MSSPs, North America. Authored by Kelly M. Kavanagh and John Pescatore on November 29, 2010, the report positions Managed Security Service Providers based on ability to execute and completeness of vision.
The report states that selecting an MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider) with service delivery capabilities and security expertise that are best aligned with enterprise requirements and expectations increases the chance of a successfully managed security engagement.
“This finding directly aligns with CompuCom’s IIM™ (Integrated Infrastructure Management) framework,” said CompuCom Vice President of Security and Remote Infrastructure Management Josh Levine. “Our IIM framework leverages cross-functional processes and shared services such as the ITIL® IT Security Management process across data center, network and desktop environments to achieve higher levels of service, greater protection and lower costs.”
This latest study also cites that growth in enterprise demand for Managed Security Services (MSS) is driven primarily by four factors, which include staffing and budget constraints, evolving compliance reporting requirements, expansion of Internet connection points and growing experience with remote services for IT.
“Sarbanes-Oxley, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), ISO/IEC 2700x, HIPAA, GLBA and SB1386 are just a few of the many regulations and standards that demand 24x7 information security risk management,” stated Levine. “IT organizations continue to express their struggle to keep up with compliance requirements and international standards, hire and retain specialized staff, and evaluate and install new tools — while IT budgets are shrinking.” Gartner “Magic Quadrant for MSSPs, North America” by Kelly M.
