The statistics around endpoint security are sobering. According to the annual Verizon 2018 Data Breach Investigations Report:
- 87 percent of most successful cyber-attacks took minutes or less.
- Only three percent were discovered quickly.
- 68 percent went undiscovered for months.
Specifically, in 2017, Gartner saw companies move away from prevention-only approaches and focus more on detection and response. According to Sid Deshpande, principal research analyst at Gartner, “the shift to detection and response approaches spans people, processes and technology elements and will drive a majority of security market growth over the next five years.”
